Carroll L. “Bill” Bennett, 68, a resident of the Highland Park Community, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room. He had been in failing health for the past three weeks however death was sudden and unexpected.

He was born Feb. 1, 1935, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Ulyssis Grant and Anna C. Ours Bennett.

He was united in marriage to the former Doris Channell, who preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 1997.

Surviving are four sisters, Mary G. White of Elkins, MIldred Ruth McCoy of Elkins, Mary Jane Weese of Elkins, and Marie Miles of Grayoow, Ky.; four brothers, Harold Bennett, Paul Junior Bennett, Harry Gordon Bennett and Jessie Victor Bennett.

He was formerly employed by Channell Grocery on Railroad Avenue. He was also a machine operator for Allegheny Lumber until the business was destroyed by fire, he retired due to disability soon after that. He attended the Gospel Light Tabernacle.

Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Sunday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel Monday at 1 p.m. The Rev. A.H. Belt, pastor of the Gospel Light Tabernacle will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. State Memorial Gardens in Gilman. The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Carroll L. “Bill” Bennett.
