Mr. Charles “Bill” Lane age 86 a resident of 109 Conway Drive, Elkins WV, went home to be with his Lord on Friday May 1, 2020. Death was following a period of declining health.

Bill was born September 19, 1933 at Adrian, WV a son of the late Clark Burton and Pauline Fane Kerns Lane. On July 3, 1975 at Stowe, OH he was united in marriage to the former Rachell Lucinda Williams, who survives at their home in Elkins. They had celebrated 44 years of marriage.

Also left to cherish his memory are his four daughters, Teresa Toney of Ravenna OH, Thelma Lane of Canton, OH, Dorothy Fritz of Canton, OH, Judy Hahn of Warren, OH; three sons, Timothy Lane of Alabama, William “Bill” Lane of Mill Creek, and John Wayne Simmons of Havelock, NC. Also surviving are his eighteen grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Burton Lane, one brother Perry Neil Lane and one sister, Mary Maxine (Lane) Green.

Bill was a 1953 graduate of the Buckhannon Upshur High School and attended Akron University. He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he served from 1954 to 1956 and was in the infantry during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion.

He had worked at Evenflo in Ravenna, OH for many years, and at Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg, OH for 30 years until his retirement in 1993. Following his retirement and relocating to Belington, he had a sporting goods business, called Guns II and B&R Sports.

Bill was active in the Boy Scouts where he served as a Scout Leader and Chaplain. He enjoyed camping with the troops at Camp Mahonegan. He attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church at Gilman until becoming disabled. Bill was a devout Christian and will be sadly missed.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic a private family visitation will be held at the Talbott Funeral home on Tuesday May 5, 2020 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm with a graveside service to follow in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington, full military rites will be accorded. Pastor Johnny Paul Williams II will officiate. The Talbott Funeral Home of Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Charles “Bill” Lane.
