Charles Dewey Henderson, 78, of Harman, died at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at his home following an extended illnes.

Mr. Henderson was born June 13, 1922, in New Creek, a son of the late Ralph Dewey and Ethel Blanche Weasenforth Henderson.

On Feb. 15, 1946, in Harman, he married the former Mary Mae Harman, who survives in Harman.

Also surviving are a son, Charles Douglas Henderson and wife, Lucila Davis; a brother, Russell Herbert Henderson, Clarendon, Ark.; and a grandson, Randal Douglas Henderson, Harman.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thurman T. Henderson; and a sister, Madalene Speaker.

Mr. Henderson was a veteran of World War II and served in the the U.S. Army.

He was a bulldozer operator and was a self employed water well driller and owned and operated Henderson Well Drilling prior to his retirement.

He was a member of Dry Fork Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5781 and a member of Harman Presbyterian Church.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and are under the direction of Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins.

Funeral services will be Sunday, October 8, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at the Harman Presbyterian Church with Karen Willis and Rev. Joseph Mininger officiating.

Interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Elkins, WV
