Charles W. Lantz, 87, of Lima, Ohio, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.

He was born March 18, 1914, in Philippi to Charles L. and Delta Roeburner Lantz.

Mr. Lantz retired in 1980 from the Siferd and Hosselman Co. in Lima. He was a 1938 graduate of Davis & Elkins College in Elkins and was a Sons of the American Revolution member.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion Post No. 96 and the VFW Post No. 1275, both in Lima. He was a lifelong musician with several Lima area bands.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles H. Lantz in 1992; and a brother, John Lantz, and a sister, Marie Lantz.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean H. Hunter Lantz; a son, Phil, and his wife, Paula Lantz, Tipp City, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Judith Lantz, Troy, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Carrie Virginia Lantz, Elkins; four grandchildren, Kristin and husband Jamie Penny, Trenton, Ohio, Chuck and his wife, Vicki Lantz, Chicago, Ill., Jon Lantz, Denver, Colo., and Sarah Lantz-ramsay and her husband, Mack, Tipp City; and great-grandchildren, Amanda and Ian Ramsay.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371. Sister Christine Schenk will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to service time at 1 p.m. Monday. Contributions may be made for a tree memorial in the Tipp City Park, or to Hospice.
