CHARLES WILLIAM MCDANIEL, SR., age 74 years, a resident of the Mackeyville Community, Hambleton, WV, departed this life Sunday evening, July 11, 2010 at the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins. He had been in declining health.

He was born Thursday, July 25, 1935 at Hendricks, WV, a son of the late Owen McDaniel and Kate Foster McDaniel. On December 1, 1962 at Baltimore, MD, he was married to the former Angie Virginia Turner, who survives.

Surviving are two sons, Robert James “Buzz” Dumire and wife Helen Louise and Charles William McDaniel, Jr., all of Mackeyville; one daughter, Pamela Ann Fritter and husband Gary of Hanover, PA; two brothers, Owen Paul McDaniel and wife Mary Ann of Kentucky, John Isaac McDaniel and wife Marie of Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Ann Palmes of Bowie, MD, Alma Fowler of Parsons; four grandchildren, Christina, Gary, Angie and Virginia and six great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death is one brother, Arlin Carr.

He attended the Hamrick School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked for the shipyards in Baltimore and was a truck mechanic for Schmidt’s Baking Co. at Baltimore, MD for thirty three years, retiring in 1993. He was an avid outdoorsman.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Thursday, July 15 2010 at 12:30 PM. Pastor Carolyn Shreve will officiate and interment will follow at the Fansler Cemetery at Hendricks.
