Charles William Tacy, 82, a resident of Youngstown, OH, passed from this life suddenly but peacefully Monday, October 27, 2014 at home. Charles was born Sunday, February 28, 1932, a son of the late John A. and Carrie Tacy. On December 27, 1952 he married the former Barbara A. See who preceded him in death on January 17, 2014. Charles and Barbara moved to Ohio in 1956. Left to cherish his memory are one daughter, Patricia Grolemund of Youngstown, OH and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Charles in death besides his parents and wife was an infant brother, Donald Lee Tacy, one daughter Katherine A. Tacy and son-in-law Gary M. Grolemund. Charles was an original homestead resident of Valley Bend and attended Tygarts Valley High School. He served with the Marine Corps from 1948 to 1952 in the first Marine Division, Amphibious DUK W. Co. in Korea. After his discharge, he attended welding school in Nashville, TN, worked as a coal miner at the Hickory Lick Mine, as well as drove truck for the Hillary Trucking Company. He worked at GM in Cleveland and for the Youngstown Contracting Company. He joined the Operating Engineers Local 66 and retired as a 50 year member of the union. Charles was a life member at the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Korean War Veterans, and the Marine Corps League. He enjoyed his membership in the Al Koran Shrine Club [where he participated as a driver for the Crippled Children’s Bus], the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, the Argus Lodge #545, and the Niles Commandary. Charles was a loving father and “once a Marine, always a Marine.” Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Thursday from 5P-8P. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Friday, October 31, 2014 at 11:00AM. Rev. S. Kent Price will officiate and interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Charles’ memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
