Charles Woodrow Johnson, 79, a resident of Beverly, passed from this life Monday, January 5, 2015 at home. Charles was born Sunday, February 10, 1935 in Randolph County, a son of the late Arthur and Veda Johnson. Left to cherish Charles’ memory are two daughters, Jenny Johnson Jerrell and Charlene Johnson Farrell, his fiancé, Betty Umpenhour, 10 grandchildren, Nicholas Farrell, Lee Farrell and wife Sarah, Michelle Coronado and husband Jose, Andrea and Emily Farrell, Kevin Jerrell, Noelle Jerrell Jackowiak and husband Kevin, Jordan, Molly and Charlotte Sonja Jerrell, 5 great grandchildren, Charlotte Isabelle Farrell, Brandon and Annabelle Coronado, Evie and Damien Jackowiak, one sister Deloris Louk, 2 nieces, Virginia Losh and Pansy Light and husband Chuck Collett, two nephews, Steve Light and Arthur Louk and wife Dawn, several great nieces and nephews, aunts, Mary Alice Howell, Ina Gear, Shirley Regal and Jane Louk and uncles, Kenneth Louk and wife Ann and Blair Russell and wife Patty. Charles served in the Armed Forces from 1954 to 1956 and worked at General Motors in Ohio for over 30 years until he retired. After retiring from General Motors, Charles returned to his home state of West Virginia. He was a great sportsman and he was a true lover of nature in all its forms. He worked at the Randolph County Senior Center for many years where he made many good friends and met his fiancé, Betty Umpenhour. His granddaughter, Noelle, will treasure his super rowdy sense of humor. Charles loved his family above all and would do anything for them. A visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 10AM until 12PM, the funeral hour. At the request of the family, the casket will remain closed and interment will follow.
