Clarence Wilson “Bud” Miller, Jr., 75, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life, Sunday, July 6, 2014 at home surrounded by family. Bud was born Thursday, August 11, 1938 in Elkins, a son of the late Clarence Wilson “Bing” Miller Sr. and Naomi Virginia Rosier Miller. On July 4, 1958 in Monterey, VA, he married the former Brenda Joyce Pingley who survives in Elkins. The recently celebrated fifty six years of marriage. Also left to cherish Bud’s memory are two children, Elizabeth Ann Goodwin and husband Richard of Chicago, IL and Michael Allen Miller and wife Brenda of Elkins, and four grandchildren, Stephanie Hess and husband Chris, Lisa Goodwin, all of Chicago, IL, Christopher Miller and wife Emily of Rockville, MD and Jaime Miller of Elkins. Preceding Bud in death besides his parents were two brothers, Donnie and Kenneth Miller. Bud attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School in 1957. Until retirement, he had been employed with the WV DOH for forty-two years. Bud loved hunting, camping and vacationing at the beach with his wife Brenda. He also thoroughly enjoyed watching WVU sports and liked to watch boxing matches. Bud will always be remembered for being a volunteer firefighter with the Elkins Fire Department for forty-five years. He was a Presbyterian by faith and a member of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elkins. Bud’s request for cremation was honored. A visitation with family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Elkins Fire Department from 5:30P until 7:00P. The memorial service will begin at 7:00P with Rev. Kevin Starcher, Rev. Dr. Peter Vial and Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley as officiants.
