Clyde Arnold Williams 1913-2002

Clyde Arnold Williams, 89, of Hacker Valley, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at Webster Continuous Care in Cowen following a long illness.

Mr. Williams was born May 31, 1913, at Marpleton, a son of the late George and Nancy Lake Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy Brown Williams, Cowen; four sons, Carl E. Williams, Buckhannon, Archie Williams, Cleveland, Ohio, Cecil Williams, Jerrys Run, and Frankie Williams, Replete; three daughters, Winnie Queen and Ruby Helmick, both of Buckhannon, and Frances Harper, Sutton; four brothers, Roscoe W. Williams, Belington, Jess W. Williams, Monongah, Wilbert Williams, Goodman, Mo., and George (June) Williams Jr., Kingmont; 25 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers one sister and one great-grandchild.

He was a lifelong resident of Webster County. He was a woodsman and attended Hacker Valley Baptist Church in Hacker Valley. He had a great love for the outdoors and especially horses.

Friends will be received at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Groves of Craigsville officiating. Interment will follow in Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Replete.
