Cynthia “Kay” Phillips Riddle, age 62 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Saturday evening October 19, 2013 at the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center at Belington, WV surrounded by her family, following a courageous four month battle with cancer.

She was born Saturday, November 4, 1950 at Elkins, WV a daughter of the late Howard Alton Phillips and Jeanette Lee Rennix Phillips, who survives at Elkins. On July 1, 1995 at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Elkins, WV she was married to William Robert “Rob” Riddle, who survives. Also surviving are one brother, Alan Eugene Phillips and wife Brenda, of Elkins; one sister, Diana L. Peters and husband David, of Elkins; one stepdaughter, Wendy Riddle Peppers and husband Will, of TN; two stepsons, Willie Riddle and wife Stephanie; and David Riddle and wife Jennifer, all of Elkins; two sisters in law, Beth Rice Phillips, of Elkins; Joan Antolini Phillips, of Winfield; three nieces, Heather Lyons; Laura Hensley; and Misha Lee; four nephews, Jamie; Josh; and Nic Phillips; and Matt Peters; several extended cousins and their families, five step grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Addison; Jake; Rory; and Wyatt Riddle; and Charley Peppers; her Alabama family that was very dear to her heart, Tania; Marianna; Faith; Jonathan; and Madeline; and two aunts, Bettie Pack, of St. Albans; and Ruby York, of Elkins.

Preceding her in death are one son, Jeremiah James “Jay” Phillips; three brothers, William Howard “Bill” Phillips; Alton Chester “Butch” Phillips; and Eric Wayne “Rick” Phillips; one stepson, Sean Riddle; her maternal grandparents, Chester and Rose Rennix; and her paternal grandmother Leecy Canfield Phillips.

She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1968 and was a graduate of Fairmont State Business College. She worked in medical records and as a switchboard operator at Davis Memorial Hospital and also as a receptionist for Doctor Tavolacci. She attended the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Elkins all her life and loved and served the Lord. Kay enjoyed watching game shows, being on her computer and “talking” on Facebook. She was a special lady who won the hearts of those who met her.

The family expresses their gratitude to the entire staff at the Elkins Cancer Center and to the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Tuesday. The casket will remain closed. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Kevin Starcher will officiate and interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins, WV.
