D. Flossie Bolyard 1912-2002 Obituary

D. Flossie Bolyard, 89, of Route 2, Belington, died Sunday afternoon, April 28, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, following a three-week illness.

She was born June 7, 1912, at Webster, Taylor County, a daughter of the late Lewis Berlin and Susannah Penelope “Nettie” Cox Shaffer.

On Oct. 1, 1932, she was married to Delbert Bolyard, who preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1978.

Surviving are one daughter, Karen Sue Conner and husband, Howard, with whom she made her home; one son, Roger Lee Bolyard and wife, June, Buckhannon Pike, Elkins; one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Bolyard, Belington; seven grandchildren, Michael and Amy Conner, Shelbyville, Tenn., Chad, Joe and Kevin Bolyard, Belington, Sherry Bolyard, Elkins, and Shelly Gutta, Morgantown; and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by four sons, Delbert Bolyard Jr., Joseph Paul Bolyard, Gary Lynn Bolyard and Everett Louis “Lou” Bolyard; one sister, Della Crouse; and two brothers, George Shaffer and Homer Shaffer.

Mrs. Bolyard was a homemaker and former housekeeper. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church at Belington and was a former member of the Belington Center of the Barbour County Senior Citizens. She enjoyed crocheting and crafting.

Friends may call at Schoonover-stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Rick Cutright of the Buckhannon Seventh Day Adventists Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Belington Fraternal Cemetery.
