Daisy Lucinda Williams Currence 1929-2019 Obituary
Daisy Lucinda Williams Currence, age 90 years, a resident of Mabie, passed away Friday morning, December 27, 2019 at the Davis medical Center Emergency Department.
She was born October 18, 1929 at Cassity, WV, a daughter of the late George Marion Williams and the late Lucinda Tenney Williams.
In 1946, she was married to George H. Currence who preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons, George “Rick” Currence and wife Donna, Palm Harbor, FL, Gregory “Bruce”; Currence and wife Linda of Tomahawk, WV and Gary “Steve” Currence and wife Cathy of Mabie. Two daughters, Nancy L. Sturdivant and husband David of Beverly, WV and Phyllis Mastrogiuseppe of Coalton, WV, a sister Violet Hodges of Buckhannon, WV, a sister-in-law, Ila Saunier, Stow, OH, seventeen grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding her in death were two daughters, Christine E. Wratchford and Cynthia Reel, two sons-in-law, John Wratchford and Dick Reel, three grandchildren, Joshua Currence, Eric Reel and Gi Gi Wratchford, brothers, Foster, Marion, Teddy, Oddie, Charles and Jack Williams, four sisters, Gladys Zirkle, Texie Radar, Georgie Zirkle and Wanda Williams and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Mrs. Currence was a graduate of Coalton High School.
She was employed by Reidbord Brothers for many years and was a Foster Grandparent at Coalton Elementary School for seventeen years prior to her retirement.
She enjoyed traveling, embroidery and reading prior to her declining health.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary to Roaring Creek Post 5583, Rich Mountain Battlefield Association and the Rowan Memorial United Methodist Church.
Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, December 30, 2019 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
On Tuesday, December 31st she will be moved to the Rowan Memorial United Methodist Church for visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am the funeral hour.
Rev. Stella Faye Moyer will officiate and interment will follow in the Rowan Memorial Cemetery at Mabie, WV.
The family request contributions be made to the Roaring Creek VFW Post 5583, Coalton, WV 26257, the Rowan Memorial United Methodist Church, PO Box 184, Mabie, WV 26278, Rowan Memorial Cemetery, Mabie, WV 26278 or the Zirkle Cemetery, Mabie, WV 26278 in memory of Mrs. Currence.
