Dale Hobart Vance 1915-2002 Obituary

Dale Hobert Vance, 86, of Onego, died Saturday, April 20, 2002, at his residence in Onego.

Mr. Vance was born Dec. 7, 1915, in Roaring Creek, a son of the late Mason and Bertha Vance.

On June 7, 1950, in Cumberland, Md., he married Elsie L. Hedrick, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Patty Holloway, Franklin, and Nancy Reed, Onego; one son, Sam Vance, Elkins; four sisters, Grace Harper, Warren, Ohio, Eula Bland, Seneca Rocks, and Joy Bowers and Hope Smith, both of Baltimore, Md.; and one grandson, Ryan Vance, Elkins.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester, Marvin and Carl; and two sisters, Dessie Hartman and Jessie Tingler.

Mr. Vance was a timber cutter, and worked for the West Virginia Division of Highways and U.S. Forest Service. He was a member of Onego Church of the Brethren.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Funeral services will be at Bible Missionary Church Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Bowman and Evangelist Ken Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Vance Cemetery at Onego. Memorial donations may be made to the Bible Missionary Church.
