David G. Golden, 53, of Route 2, Belington, died at 9:40 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003, in the Broaddus Hospital Long Term Care Facility following an extended illness.

He was born April 8, 1949, at Elkins, the son of the late Guy F. and Mildred Hasleah Bolton Golden.

Surviving are his wife, the former Sandra K. Skidmore, who survives at Route 2, Belington; two daughters, Shelly Lynn Everson and husband, Keith, and Melody Elaine Coleman, all of Philippi; two stepchildren, Lori Ann Snyder and husband, Richard, Buckhannon, and Robert Earl Oldaker, Belington; three grandchildren, Brittany Everson, Shannon Everson and Brandon Brown; and two stepgrandchildren, Ashley Boley and Sara Leggett.

Mr. Golden was a retired craftsman for the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving with the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Laurel Mountain Post 410 Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifelong member of the Democratic Party.

Friends may call at the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley Bend Cemetery. The Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
