David Ray Detamore, 50, of Route 2, Buckhannon, the Little Sand Run community, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, in St. Joseph’s Hospital.

He was surrounded by all the family and friends who loved him.

He was born Oct. 26, 1952, in Alton, a son of Lawrence Lee “Punk” Detamore of Alton, and the late Wilda Jean Sandy Detamore.

He was married on May 22, 1976, to Norma Arlene Casto Detamore of Route 2, Buckhannon.

In addition to his father and wife, he is survived by one daughter, Tracy Lynn Dunn and husband, Brian, of Clarksburg; four brothers, Jim Detamore, Lawrence “Bud” Detamore and Donald Detamore and wife, Becky, all of French Creek, and Steve Detamore and wife, Pam, of Petersburg; three sisters, Janice Cutright and husband, Scott, of French Creek, and Virginia Detamore and Vicky Detamore, both of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Dale Detamore.

He was employed by J.F. Allen Co. of Elkins for 27 years, and at the time of his illness he was working as a paving equipment operator.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a Baptist by faith.

Friends will be received at Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Beryl McKisic and the Rev. Mike Cutright officiating.

Interment will follow in Alton Cemetery.

Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel of Buckhannon is in charge of the arrangements for David Ray Detamore.
