Debra Ann Mason Lauzau Hart of Sissonville returned to our Lord due to an extended illness of ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Deby passed on peacefully in the comfort of her family and home on Thursday, July 3, 2003.

She was born Nov. 28, 1952, in Fairmont, to Ray W. Mason and Lucille A. Mason.

She grew up in Barrackville and was a 1970 graduate of Barrackville High School.

She was executive vice president of the Kanawha Valley Board of Realtors and a member of the North Hills Baptist Church in Sissonville.

She was also one of the founding members of the West Virginia Friends of ALS.

A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she leaves behind her husband, Edward L. Hart II; two daughters, Lisa Ayne Hewitt and husband, Aaron, of Ripley, and Lindsay Alayne Lauzau; and one granddaughter, Landyn Paige Hewitt.

Deby also leaves behind her mother, Lucille A. Mason of Barrackville; one sister, Donna R. Carpenter and husband, Charles, of Barrackville; one nephew, Scott Carpenter of Barrackville; her mother-in-law, Caramel A. Hart of Bridgeport; and one sister-in-law, Marsha L. Hart of Springfield, Va.

Deby was preceded in death by her father, Ray W. Mason; one niece, Amy D. Carpenter; and her father-in-law, Edward L. Hart.

A funeral/memorial service will be at the Maranantha Fellowship Church at 2910 Kanawha Terrace in St. Albans at 11 a.m. Monday. The family asks that in lieu of flowers for donations to be made to the West Virginia Friends of ALS, P.O. Box 612, Teays, W.Va., 25569. The Long & Fisher Funeral Home at Sissonville is in charge of the arrangements.
