Delano B. “Jake” Bell, 68, a resident of 330 Wilson Lane, Elkins, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2003, in the Davis Memorial Hospital. Death was attributed to respiratory failure.

He was born April 28, 1935, at Alpena, a son of the late Martin B. and Nela Geneva Mallow Bell.

On Aug. 5, 1992, he was united in marriage to Kay F. Bodkin Zirkle Bell who survives in Elkins.

Also surviving are two sons, Timothy Bell and Todd Bell, both of Canton, Ohio; three daughters, Brenda Peters, Pamela Behringer and Angela L. Bell, all of Canton, Ohio; five stepsons, Willie and Ronald Thorne, Jimtown, Larry Carver and Shalle Zirkle, Elkins, and Donnie Zirkle of Mabie; seven sisters, Mrs. Earl (Mamion) Day of Canton, Ohio, Mrs. Roy (Wanda) Wegman of Broadway, Va., and Mrs. John (Louise) Higgins, Mrs. Gerald (Joy) Day, Mrs. Carl (Lettie) See, Mrs. Alfred (Neva) Riley and Mrs. Troy (Nela) Phillips, all of Elkins; three brothers, Michael I. Bell and Ivan C. Bell, both of Elkins, and Don H. Bell of Anchorage, Alaska; 12 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding him in death was a brother, Jack D. Bell.

Mr. Bell attended the schools of Randolph County and retired from LTV Steel in Canton, Ohio. He was a member of United Steel Workers of America and the Randolph County Senior Center. He was a member of the Dunkard Brethern Church.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dave Collins and Pastor Terry Cannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Bell Cemetery at Kelly Mountain. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Delano B. “Jake” Bell.
