DELTON SLATHIEL CHUB MULLENAX 1936-2010 Obituary

DELTON SLATHIEL “CHUB” MULLENAX, age 73 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Monday morning, January 11, 2010 at his home. He had been in declining health.

He was born Sunday, Sept. 20, 1936 at Sugarlands, a son of the late Elmer Jackson and Sylvia Catherine Knotts Mullenax. He was married to the former Ruth Ann Hedrick, who precedes him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Jack Mullenax and wife Michele and Marcus Mullenax and wife Amie, all of Parsons; and six grandchildren, Courtney, Sharee, Mikhail, Madison, Dominick and Gavin.

He is the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by two brothers, Foster G. Mullenax, Franklin D. Mullenax; and one sister, Ruth Mae Mauzy.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1954. He was a member of the National Hardwood Lumber Assoc. He was the owner and operator of Mullenax Lumber Co., where he worked in the industry for forty six years. He served on the Board of Education for two electoral terms. He was a member of the Hendricks United Methodist Church, a member of the Ruitan’s and a founder of “The Hick Festival” and a good standing member of the Pythagoras Lodge No 128 A.F. & A.M. of Parsons.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11:30AM. Pastor Loren Metzner will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV.
