Don Engelkemier, 80, of Huttonsville, passed away at his son’s home in Montrose, Saturday, April 20, 2013.

He was born March 12, 1933, at Newkirk, Okla., to Charley and Fannie Engelkemier.

He served in the Army from May 1956 to April 1958. His occupation was first with computers, then as a contractor and builder of homes and a medical center. He retired from computer programming at the Department of Public Debt in Parkersburg. He enjoyed mentoring children, fruit farming and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frances Engelkemier; brother, Bob and wife, LaVonne Engelkemier, of Colorado; sister, Betty Engelkemier of Arizona; sister-in-law, Gladys Engelkemier of Michigan; and three sons and their families, David and Brenda and Alex and Amy Engelkemier of Montrose and Tim and Jennifer and Phillip, Benjamin and Charlotte Engelkemier of Huttonsville and Jon and Peggy and Emma, Jake and Brody Engelkemier of St. Albans.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Engelkemier of Michigan; and one granddaughter, Megan Engelkemier of Montrose.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, April 27, at 3 p.m. at Valley Vista Adventist Center, Huttonsville.

In memory of Don, contributions may be made to the Kids for Camp Program of the Mountain View Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, 1400 Liberty Street, Parkersburg WV 26101.
