Donald B. Kline 1933-2002 Obituary

Donald B. Kline, 69, of Buckhannon, departed this life Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at his home following an extended illness and was under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.

He was born Feb. 27, 1933, at Worcester, Mass.

He married Mardell Cogar Kline of Buckhannon and formerly of Webster Springs. They had been married for 37 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Donna Kline of Worcester, Mass.; two sons, Barry Kline of Worcester, Mass., and Steven Kline of Worcester, Mass; and three grandsons, Anthony, Justin and Jason Kline, all of Worcester, Mass.

He retired from the U.S. Navy after 25 1/2 years as a master chief petty officer. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he worked for Wal-mart Corp. of Weston and Buckhannon for several years. He was a lifetime member of the Buckhannon VFW Post 3663 and the Fleet Reserve Assoc.

Mr. Kline was an avid birder and enjoyed stamp collecting.

Friends will be received at Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Chapel Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William C. Eskew Jr. Military honors will be provided by the Buckhannon VFW Post 3663 and the American Legion Frank B. Bartlett Post 7. At the family’s request Mr. Kline will be buried at sea.
