DONALD GENE POLING Donald Gene Poling, 76, of Rt. #2, Philippi, died Saturday evening, April 9, in the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center, following an extended illness. He was born November 17, 1934, at Philippi, a son of the late Winfred H. and Linnie Grace (England) Poling. On December 8, 1957, he was married to the former Edith Wanda McDonald, who survives at their home at Rt. #2, Philippi. Also surviving are two sons, Donald Gene Poling Jr., Jacksonville, Fla., Timothy Allan Poling Sr. and wife Robin, Philippi; two brothers, Elwood Poling, Montrose, Baxter “Bud” Poling, Philippi; three grandchildren, Tiffany Renee Poling and Donald Gene Poling III, both of Jacksonville, Timmy Poling Jr. and fiancé, Ashley Croston, Philippi; one great granddaughter, Aubrey Dawn Poling, Philippi. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Edgar Milton Poling, Herbert Marshall Poling and Clarence Eugene Poling. Mr. Poling was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired as a truck driver for the Department of Defense, Aberdeen Proving Grounds. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper and generally loved the outdoors. Honoring Mr. Poling’s request, his remains were cremated. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 16, at the home of Tim and Robin Poling on Stalnaker Road, Philippi. The Rev. L. Burl Haddix will officiate. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to Mountain Hospice, P.O. Box 173, Belington, WV 26250 or the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center, Rt. #3, Box 15C, Belington, WV 26250. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
