Donald N. “Chub” Brake, 74, a former resident of Elkins and more recently a resident of SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation at Hurricane, passed away Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at the center.

He was born Sept. 22, 1928, at Harrisville, the son of the late Hugh and Ada Douglass Brake.

On Dec. 30, 1956, he was married to the former Virginia D. Ward, who preceded him in death.

Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Paula) Conover, Hurricane; and two brothers, Neil Brake, Buckhannon, and John Brake, Punta Gorda, Fla.

Two sisters, Lois Wright, Fairlawn, Ohio, and Jean Sedanko, Dublin, Ohio; and one grandson, Kevin Conover, also survive.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Wendell and H. Linn Brake, and one sister, Virginia Ihle.

Mr. Brake was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School and served in the U.S. Navy.

He was employed as a sales representative with Nabisco for over 25 years prior to his retirement.

He was a Methodist by faith and a member of the Elkins Lodge No. 108 AF&AM.Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jonas Johnson Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens where members of Elkins Lodge No. 108 AF&AM will conduct Masonic graveside rites.
