Donnel Junior Woody, 78, of HC 36 Box 248, Tallmansville, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.

He was born June 4, 1924, in Alexander, a son of the late Donnel E. and Pauline Bennett Woody.

On Sept. 28, 1945, he married Wilda Faye Hoover Woody, who survives at Tallmansville.

Also surviving are one son, Delmas Woody and wife, Donna, Buckhannon; two daughters, Loretta and husband, Randall Queen, Buckhannon, and Kathy and husband, Larry Andreas, Surfside Beach, S.C.; four brothers, Russell “Tom” Woody, Jimmie Woody, Keith Woody and Dale Woody, all of Buckhannon; and two granddaughters, Carla Campbell and Jessica Woody, both of Buckhannon.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Angolia Smith Woody; two brothers, Edwin Woody and Glenn Woody; and two sisters, Guilda Bragg and Ruth Schwaerzle.

He was co-owner and logging supervisor of Woody Lumber Co. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a former Sunday School teacher, superintendent and certified lay speaker for Harmony United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion and a member of the NRA and AARP.

He was the local fire warden for West Virginia Division of Forestry and was active in the Adopt-A-Highway Program. He was a graduate of the University of Hard Knocks. He was a former member of the Upshur Sportsman and Conservation Club and a former board of director for the Washington District Fire Department.

Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Poling and the Rev. Holly Hoover officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Church Cemetery in Hemlock.
