Dora Katherine Bonner Huffman 1919-2002 Obituary

Dora Katherine Bonner Huffman, 83, a former resident of Parsons and a resident of the Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas, departed this life early Tuesday morning, Oct. 1, 2002, at her home. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born Sept. 8, 1919, at Red Creek, a daughter of the late Edward D. Bonner and Verna O. Lambert Bonner.

On Sept. 29, 1950, she was married to Ralph Huffman, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are one stepson, Wayne Huffman and wife, Shirley; and one stepgrandson, Mark Huffman, both of Hickory, N.C.

Preceding her in death are two sisters, Eva Bonner and Bertie Rennix. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1937. She had worked for the former Barb’s Drug Store of Parsons. She had worked for the United States Government for the Department of Education for more than 30 years. She had a love for traveling and was an avid reader.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. J. Michael Lantz will officiate and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery, Parsons.
