Dora Mae Singleton, 67, of Nella’s Inc. at Crystal Springs, and formerly of Charles Street, Elkins, died at 6:10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Singleton was born March 5, 1934, in Preston County, a daughter of the late Carl and Ocie Hixenbaugh Thomas.
On Sept. 9, 1940, she married Charles Raymond Singleton, who preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Harold L. Burkey, Port Deposit, Md., and Dora and James Bertamini, Beverly; six sons and three daughters-in-law, Charles and Dottie Singleton, Norton, Ira and Debra Singleton, Hagerstown, Md., Dennis and Tari Singleton, Towanda, Pa., Gilbert Singleton and Frederick Singleton, both of Philippi, and Billy Singleton, Romney; two sisters, Ellen Haslucker, Romney, and Margarete Bucklew, Bruceton Mills; a brother, Arles Thomas, Belington; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Singleton was preceded in death by a brother, Ira Thomas; and a sister, Rita Hamrick.
Mrs. Singleton was a homemaker. She was a Pentecostal by faith.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, today after 7 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Randy Swiger and the Rev. Frank Hexinbaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Joseph’s Chapel Cemetery.
