Dorcas Naomi Weese Baker, 69, a native of Montrose and a resident of Houston, Texas, departed this life Wednesday morning, Dec. 24, 2003, at the Northeast Medical Center at Humble, Texas, following a long illness.

She was born Friday, Jan. 26, 1934, at Montrose, the daughter of the late Robert Roscoe Weese and Beulah Cevilla Murphy Weese

On Sept. 19, 1967, in Rochester, N.Y., she was married to Johnny Baker, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Sheila Bird and husband, Alan, of Joshua, Texas; one sister, Drema Davidson and husband, Clayton, of Magnolia, Texas; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Baker had worked as the secretary to the director of nursing at the John Hopkins School of Nursing at Baltimore, Md., and was a member of the Leading Creek Primitive Baptist Church at Montrose.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Velden B. Linn officiating. Interment will follow in the Montrose Primitive Baptist Cemetery at Montrose. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Dorcas Naomi Weese Baker.
