Dorla Jean Croston, 71, a resident of Frost, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at her home.

She was born July 10, 1931, at Suncrest, a daughter of the late Hoy and Evelyn Crawford Burnside.

On Jan. 21, 1950, she was married to Victor Burt Croston who preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1995.

Surviving are one son, James Lee Croston, Mill Creek; two daughters, Vickie Lane Croston and Judith Ann Baldwin, both of Frost; three brothers, Arthur Burnside, East Dailey, Paul Burnside, Panxatawny, Pa., and William Burnside, Elkins; one sister, Pauline Barbara Tenney, Cowen. Four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Croston was a graduate of Licensed Practical Nursing School and was employed during training at the Memorial General Hospital in Elkins as a licensed practical nurse.

She last worked at the Pocahontas Memorial Hospital prior to becoming disabled. She was a Methodist by faith and a member of the AARP.

Friends were received from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today from the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Verl Simmons officiated and interment followed in the brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice, 1410 Crim Ave., Belington, W. Va. 26250, in memory of Mrs. Croston. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Dorla Jean Croston.
