Dorothy J. Thompson, 86, a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas since 1996, passed away Friday morning, Sept. 26, 2003, at the nursing home.

She was born Oct. 14, 1916, in Whitmer, a daughter of the late Woodfin Sponaugle and Matie Day White.

She was formerly married to Roy Thompson, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sons, Dorsey Paugh of Baltimore, Md., Kenneth Paugh of Elkins and Jerry Paugh of Baltimore; and two daughters, Sally Armentrout of Whitmer and Carolyn Jean Snyder of Bunker Hill. Also surviving are three half brothers, two half sisters, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was one son, Edward Paugh, three brothers and one sister.

Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of the Whitmer United Methodist Church.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Sunday, she will be moved to the Whitmer United Methodist Church where friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Stella Moyer will officiate and interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery near Whitmer. The Tomblyn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Dorothy J. Thompson.
