Dottie Jewel Tackett Wamsley, 68, a resident of Mill Creek passed from this life Thursday evening, January 27, 2011 at the Hospice In-patient Care Center at Elkins.

She had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.

She was born Friday, August 21, 1942 at Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Nathan Tackett and Virginia “Jenny” Currence Tackett.

On July 8, 1959 at Monterey, VA, she was married to her devoted, loving husband Frank Wamsley who survives at Mill Creek.

Others left to cherish Dottie’s memory are four sons; Frankie Wamsley, Rocky Wamsley and wife, Tasha, and Michael Wamsley, all of Mill Creek, Jeffrey Wamsley and companion, Missy Daniels of Valley Bend, one brother; Troy Tackett of Mill Creek, seven grandchildren; Frankie Wamsley, Tara Wamsley, Kayla Wamsley, Rocky Wamsley, Jeffrey Wamsley, Kasie Wamsley, and Nathaniel Wegman, five great grandchildren; Davion Wamsley, Violet Armstrong, Mariyah Armstrong, Aiden Wegman, and Denisha Wamsley, several loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, and great great nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter; Peggy Wegman, a step father, Robert “Bob” Currence, two brothers; Robert “Bob” Tackett and Junior “June” Tackett, sisters-in-law, Addie Tackett and Thelma Tackett, one nephew, Johnny Tackett, maternal grandparents, Perry and Jemimah Currence, paternal grandparents, Nathaniel and Jane Tackett.

Dottie attended the schools of Randolph County, had worked for Beta Shoe Company, Reidboard Brothers, and as a flag person for R. H. Armstrong, and was a homemaker.

She enjoyed taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren, and she loved to play bingo.

Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Monday from 5 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 12 noon.

The Rev. Jack Burks will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.
