Earl Bradford “Bant” Talbott, 75, a resident of the Talbott Road in Belington, and more recently a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Belington, departed this life at 5:35 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003, at the center. He had been in failing health for several years.

He was born Aug. 11, 1927, at the Talbott community, near Belington, the son of the late Harrison and Hutton Yeager Talbott.

On Oct. 15, 1977, he was united in marriage to the former Cindy Howser, who survives at their home in Belington.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Tommy Talbott and wife, Betty; four stepsons, Junior Biller and wife, Sandy, and Robert Corbin, all of Belington; Charles Bruce Durrett of Elkins, and Donald Scott Durrett of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Meretia Mollohan of Belington; five grandchildren, Sheila Talbott of Belington, Junior Talbott, Michael Talbott, Terry Talbott, all of Elkins, Jessica Dawn Durrett of Dayton, Ohio; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Harold C. Talbott, Junior Harrison “Rip” Talbott, Nelson R. Talbott, Luther A. Talbott, and an infant brother, Leonidos Talbott.

Mr. Talbott attended the schools of Barbour County. He was a graduate of the Belington High School with the class of 1945. In his earlier years Mr. Talbott was employed as part owner in the Talbott Logging Co. which later became Talbott Lumber. Upon his retirement in 1982, he was also employed by Benson Lumber Co. as a lumber grader. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Elkins and will be remembered for the pride he took in caring for his lawn, his love of gardening, and his great interest in Major League baseball.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday until 11 a.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home parlor with Evangelist Gary L. Kindall officiating. Interment will follow in the Talbott Cemetery near Belington. The family ask that memorial contributions be made to Hospice Care Corp. of Elkins. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Earl Bradford “Bant” Talbott. From 2 May 2003.
