EARL BOTTENFIELD SINES 1928-2010 Obituary

EARL BOTTENFIELD SINES, age 82 years, a well known educator and a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life early Sunday morning, November 28, 2010 at the Valentine Personal Care Home in Elkins, WV.

He was born February 2, 1928 at Pickens, WV a son of the late Oliver E. Sines and Maggie Bottenfield Sines. On September 1, 1950 he was married to the former Emma Jean Lantz, who survives. They had celebrated sixty years of marriage. Also surviving are three sons, Michael Sines and wife Cindi, Ft. Mill, SC; Stephen “Squeak” Sines and Deborah, Manteo, NC; Jon Sines, Winchester, VA; one daughter, Susan Schoonover and husband Allen, Elkins; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death is one infant son.

He was a graduate of Pickens High School with the Class of 1946 and Davis & Elkins College with the Class of 1950. He received his Masters Degree in Administration from West Virginia University and took graduate classes in Education at Penn State. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a former educator having worked in Randolph, Tucker, Webster and Nicholas Counties. He was a member of the Elkins Lodge # 1135, B.P.O.E. and the Elkins Church of the Brethren where he served as a trustee for many years.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the loving caregivers at Valentines Personal Care Home, Dr. Matthew Cupp and staff and also the staff of Hospice Care Corporation.

Mr. Sines’ request for cremation was honored and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Hospice Care Corporation, 169 Diamond Street, Elkins, WV 26241 or to the Elkins Church of the Brethren, 708 West Central Street, Elkins, WV 26241.
