Earl Dayton Karickhoff, age 89, of Volga, WV, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at his home. He was born December 4, 1923 in Volga, a son of the late Warrick and Maggie Lantz Karickhoff. On November 19, 1960 he married Verna Violet Powers who preceded him in death on March 25, 2011. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Audrey Kincaid, Roxie Simons, Virginia Keller, Elsie Crider and Snowdear Ward. He is survived two sons, Earl Wayne Karickhoff and wife Cindy and Kenneth mark Karickhoff and wife Sherri all of Volga; one grandson, Kenneth Cole Karickhoff of Volga; one granddaughter, Karson Grace Karickhoff of Volga; three sisters, Tula Curkendale and husband Ron, Oneita Powers and Deloris Smith all of Volga; special brother, Donnie Kincaid and wife Susie of Buckhannon and several nieces, nephews and numerous friends and acquaintances. Mr. Karickhoff was a retired coal miner and a Methodist by faith. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and especially loved his grandchildren with all of his heart. He had a wonderful life and leaves us with a lifetime of memories. Friends will be received Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Streets officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hodgesville, WV. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
