Eddie Lee Blankenship, 82, a former resident of Valley Head, passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, in Nella’s Nursing Home Inc. at Crystal Springs.

He was born April 22, 1928, at Mill Creek, a son of the late George and Hannah Mae McCune Blankenship.

He had never married.

Surviving are two sisters, Lorraine Yokum of Huttonsville, with whom he had made his home for a number of years, and Mary Jane Bennett of Belington; three half- sisters, Tonya Fincham and Holly Blankenship, both of Valley Bend, and Karen McCune of Huttonsville; one uncle, Jessie McCune of Mill Creek; one aunt, Prudy McCune Moss of Huttonsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Dorothy Arbogast and Laura Bell Tiffner; and two brothers, James and Joseph Blankenship.

Mr. Blankenship was a self-employed woodsman for many years prior to his retirement, was a member of the Randolph County Senior Center and the Valley Independent Baptist Church.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Frank Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in Valley Head Cemetery.
