Edgar Arlie “Sonny” Carr, 67, a resident of Wymer, departed this life Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at the WVU Hospital at Morgantown, under the care of West Virginia Caring.

He was born Monday, Jan. 30, 1950, at Elkins, a son of the late Edgar Lee and Cora Jane Haddix Carr.

He had never married.

Surviving are one brother, Leslie Wayne Carr and wife, Ronda, of Elkins; one sister, Elizabeth Mae Harper and husband, Robert, of Bowden; one niece, Tiffany Carr of Elkins; one nephew, Thomas Harper of Bowden; and two great-nieces, Holly Harper of Elkins and Brittany Harper and son, Justin, of Elkins.
Preceding him in death are one brother, Hoy Austin Carr; one sister, Cora Lee Carr; and two nephews, Robert Lee Harper Jr. and Jeffery Michael Harper.

He attended the schools of Harman and had worked as a truck driver for the Kermit Butcher Quarry for many years. He attended the Church of God, enjoyed farming, riding his four-wheeler, fast trucks, teaching the boys to deer hunt, caring for people and being with his dog, “Bear.”

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5-7 p.m. Sunday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home Monday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Eli D. Hostetler will officiate, and interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins.
