Edith G. Ware 1927-2002 Obituary

Edith G. Ware, 74, a resident of Route 1, Belington, departed this life on Sunday, May 19, 2002, at 8:41 a.m. at Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown. She had been in declining health for the past three months.

She was born Sept. 22, 1927, at Ware’s Ridge, near Valley Head, a daughter of the late John Adam See and Mary Etta Beal See.

On Sept. 9, 1950, at Valley Head, she was married to Gerald L. Ware, who survives at their home in Belington.

Also surviving are three daughters, Karen Boone and husband, Ken, Belington, Donna Auvil and husband, Clark, Elkins, and Christy Weese and husband Joe, Belington; one brother, Larry See, Kingwood; one sister, Virginia Thompson, Belington; five grandchildren, Lacoa Corder, L.G. Corder and his fiance, Tracie Stewart, Jay Auvil and wife, Kory, Tonya Gripper and husband, Eddie, and Ben Auvil and wife, Monica; five great-grandchildren, Alexis Auvil, Kaitlyn Auvil, Jessica Auvil and Logan and Eli Gripper; seven stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Mason See.

Mrs. Ware attended the schools of Randolph County, and was a homemaker.

She had been a member and treasurer of the Barbour County CEOS, past president of the Barbour County Council of CEOS, member of the Junior CEOS, a member of the Tygart Valley Rebekah Lodge No. 181, of Belington, a member of Mountain Rebekah Degree Team District 14, treasurer of the Ladies Encampment Auxiliary No. 1, treasurer of Tucker No. 1 Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant, treasurer of District 14 of the Rebekah Assembly of West Virginia, treasurer of the District 14 Rebekah Drill Team.

She had been appointed an officer by Alma Whitehair, president of Rebekah Assembly of West Virginia, and had been accepted as an associate member of the LAPM, Barbour No. 1, and a member of the Tucker Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was secretary of the board of directors of the Barbour County Heart and Hand Ministries, was a volunteer at the Belington Heart and Hand Thrift Shop, was a life member of Barbour County 4-h Majahs, a life member of the 4-h All Stars, and was a past leader of the Junior 4-h Club. She was a delegate to the Barbour County Republican Executive Committee, and in 1998, was named Barbour County Belle. She served for many years as a columnist for the Barbour Democrat writing the Junior News Column. She was a member of the former Calvary United Methodist Church at Junior for more than 50 years, where she had served as a lay leader and was presently a member of the Kynette United Methodist Church and a member of the Kynette United Methodist Women.

She had been a 23-year delegate of the West Virginia United Methodist Conference.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Today at 7 p.m. the Tygart Valley Rebekah Lodge 181 will conduct a memorial service from the funeral home parlor. On Wednesday, Mrs. Ware will be moved to Kynette United Methodist Church at Harding, where friends will be received from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Arden Beck and Sister Teresa Reddington will officiate and interment will follow at Barbour Memorial Cemetery near Belington.
