ELKINS — Edith Grace Isner, 89, a lifelong resident of Parsons, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.

She was born Feb. 18, 1911, at Parsons, a daughter of the late Lloyd Thurman and “Mary” Maude Willis Murphy.

She married Forest Isner on July 17, 1934, at Parsons. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1980.

Mrs. Isner is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Philip “Jeanne” Buhler, Virginia, Mrs. William “Joanna” Lestik, Connecticut, and Mrs. Denver (Mack) “Linda” Knotts, Parsons; one sister, Mrs. Ervin “Peggy” Stalnaker, St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three nieces.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Poling, two stepbrothers and one stepsister.

Mrs. Isner graduated from Parsons High School in 1931. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Parsons. She played piano for the church for 20 years. She was a member of the Wellness Center, and was an avid painter and a seamstress.
