Edith M. Byrd, age 71 years, a resident of Beverly, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 30, 2011 in the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center. She was born July 11, 1939 at Valley Bend, a daughter of the late Charles and Lela Markley Wegman. Surviving are four daughters, Katherine Powers and husband Richard, Elkins, Cynthia Lambert and husband Randall, Montrose, Mary Warner and husband Amby and Melinda Warner and husband Marvin all of Beverly, grandchildren, Michael Powers, Bradley Warner, Matthew Warner,Richard Powers, II, Michelle Teter and husband Jeremy, Mandy Warner, and Andrea Warner. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Garrett Gassnola, Antonio Powers, Curtis Arbogast and Trevor Balis, brothers, Junior Wegman and wife Shirley, Valley Bend, Phillip Wegman of Valley Bend, John Wegman and wife Sandra, Mill Creek, Robert Wegman and Rex Wegman and wife Sonya, Mabie, Sisters, Ettie “Sis” Grey of Valley Bend and Mary Miller and companion Tom Jones, Mill Creek, Sister-in-law, Danelle Wegman, Butler, PA., several nieces,nephews and a special friend, Paula McAtee Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Franklin, Jimmy and William “Bill” Wegman.

Edith was a homemaker and had worked at Phil’s Restaurant and Reidbord Brothers. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, listening to her scanner, playing games, bingo, and the outdoors.

Friends may call from 11:00 AM until 12:00 noon Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Boggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Airport Road. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Edith M. Byrd.
