Edna Louise Elizabeth Bodkins 1927-2002 Obituary

Edna Louise Elizabeth Bodkins, 75, a resident of Heavner Avenue, “Bethany Lane” Elkins, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 12, 1927, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Ora Clarence and Annie Harris Livingston Weese.

On May 9, 1948, in Wheeling, she married Roosevelt William Nelson, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 22, 1970, she married Herbert Jackson “Hub” Bodkins, who preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1976.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Jean Teter Wujcik of Morgantown; one son, Eston William “Bill” Nelson of Ellamore; 12 grandchildren, Matthew and Adam James Shifflett, Rebekah Marie Shifflett, Trooper Andrew Teter, Amber Elizabeth Nelson, Wendi Lee Nelson Sampson, Eston William Nelson II, Patrick Bodkin and Heather Harris, Megan Goins, Nicole and Erica Wujcik; and 10 great-grandchildren, Diana Marie Shifflett, Bradley Pete Sampson, Salem Shifflett, Jordan Shifflett, Trinity Jordan Gray, Trey Bodkin and Athena Bodkin, Paige, Alexa and Quinten Goins.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by one daughter, Diana Marie Nelson Shifflett; two brothers, Noah Herbert and Ora Neil Weese; one sister, Della Virginia Armstrong; three half brothers, Herman Guy Weese, Edgar V. and Paul Lester Livingston; three half sisters, Bessie Ellen Henry, Mrs. Joseph (Laura Ester) Icenhower and Mrs. Ray (Helen M.) Yeager.

Mrs. Bodkins was a 1946 graduate of Elkins High School and attended the Davis Memorial Practical Nursing Program. She worked for the G.C. Murphy Company, the first Clarksburg Cancer Care Corp., and was a former member of Community Action. She was an active member of the Randolph County Senior Center and the Melody Chorus and attended the Elkins Church of God and Family Worship Center.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Randall Richards officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. State Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Elkins Church of God and Family Worship Center, 1402 Taylor Ave., Elkins, W.Va. 26241, or to the Randolph County Senior Center, Fifth Street and Railroad Avenue, Elkins, W.Va. 26241.
