Edna Marie Summerfield Bohon, 84, a resident of Parsons, and a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home, departed this life Saturday morning, April 20, 2002, at the nursing home. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to a stroke.

She was born Jan. 31, 1918, at Leadmine, a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Summerfield and Jemima C. Likens Summerfield Poling.

On June 30, 1934, she was married to James Junior “June” Bohon, who preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1987.

Surviving are three daughters, Wilda Marie McBee and husband, Richard, Morgantown, Vonda Wyoma Phillips and husband, Truman, Parsons, and Thelma Doloris Myers and husband, Junior, Masontown; 12 grandchildren, Rick McBee, Anna McBee Bonner, Anita McBee Daugherty, Robert McBee, David Phillips, Danny Phillips, Deral Phillips, Robert Credal, Susan Credal Terwiliger, Laura Credal Bolyard, Gary Myers and Stephanie Myers Coste; 23 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by one son, Willard Odis Bohon; one daughter, Lydia Louise Credal; two brothers, Gorman Summerfield and Raymond Summerfield; three sisters, Goldie Summerfield, Gertrude Biller and Hulda Whitehair; and two grandchildren, Paula Kay McBee and Gloria Dawn Credal.

She attended the one-room school at Leadmine. She was a homemaker and was a Protestant by faith.

Friends will be received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Wednesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. James Ellis will officiate and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery at St. George. At the request of the deceased the casket will remain closed.
