Edna Ruth Alkire 1926-2003 Obituary
Edna Ruth Alkire, 77, a former resident of the Moore and Location communities and more recently a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home, departed this life early Wednesday morning, July 2, 2003, at the nursing home.
She had been in declining health.
She was born on Jan. 10, 1926, at Upshur County, a daughter of the late William Alkire and Lula Robinson Alkire.
Surviving are three brothers, Junior Alkire of Canton, Ohio, Roy Alkire and wife, Dona, Daris Alkire and wife, Kay, all of Parsons; one sister, Ruby Sherry of Philadelphia, Pa.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Ray and Terry Alkire; one sister, Donna Lambert; and two half sisters, Goldie Clevenger and Ethel Howell.
She attended the schools of Tucker County and was a homemaker.
The family will receive friends at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home Saturday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Sunday at 1 p.m.
Pastor Dick Gadd will officiate and interment will follow at Moore Cemetery at Moore.
