EDWIN LESLIE “EDDIE” CROSS, age 77 years, a resident of Kerens, WV went to be with his Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning, August 21, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born Tuesday, April 28, 1936 at Elkins, WV a son of the late Emmett Levi and Violet Edna Mayne Cross. Emmett later married the former Mary Esther Harris Cross who helped to raise the children after Violet’s death. On May 21, 1961 at Parsons, WV he was married to the former Wilda J. Bonner, who survives. They had celebrated fifty-two years of marriage. Also surviving are three sons, Ernest L. Cross and wife Jacquelyn S. Franssen Cross; and Emmett F. Cross all of Kerens; and Kenneth L. Cross and wife Angie Tucker Cross, of Dunbar; one brother, Arthur L. Cross, of FL; three sisters, Eleanor L. Semones of Phoenix, AZ; Molly M. Jackson and husband Junior, East Lynn; and Ella M. “Tiny” Canfield, of Kerens; two grandchildren, Samantha J. Cross Thomas and husband Chad, of Nutter Fort; Pastor Michael L. Cross and wife Lynnette Mix Cross, of Elkins; three great grandchildren, Haley R. Thomas; Lindsy Ketterman; and Kristen Ketterman; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are one brother, Johnny Charles Cross; one infant sister; and one grandson, Mathew R. Cross in 2009.

Ed attended the two room school at Kerens, and was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1954. He was a veteran of the United States Military for fourteen years, serving during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, had previously worked for seven years for the U. S. Postal Service at Alexandria, VA, and was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Friday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Michael L. Cross will officiate and cremation will follow. The family would like to thank the Mountain Hospice Family for their special care.
