EFFIE AGNES SUMMERFIELD ARBOGAST, age 95 years, a resident of the Dryfork Community, Tucker County, WV departed this life Saturday May 14, 2011 at the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV, where she had been a patient since Wednesday.

She was born Monday, July 5, 1915 at Dryfork, WV a daughter of the late Jacob Horness and Laura Alice Kisamore Summerfield. On July 18, 1934 at Elkins, WV she was married to Howard A. Arbogast, who preceded her in death on October 2, 2000.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen J. Smith and Geraldine N. Watts, both of Dryfork; two sons, Jerry R. Arbogast and Ronald L. Arbogast and wife Nancy, all of Dryfork; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death is one daughter, Doris A. Bonner; one daughter in law Helen Arbogast; two sons in laws, Roy Watts and Cleve Bonner; two great grandsons, Benjamin Vance and Donald Smith; one sister, Eva Summerfield; and seven brothers, Vernice, Gordan, Russell, Oscar, Marvin Clyde and Delton Summerfield.

Mrs. Arbogast dedicated her life to caring for and nurturing her family. She was a member of the Dryfork Assembly of God, was a noted cook and enjoyed gardening. She was famous for her homemade butter having people come from as far away as Washington, DC to purchase.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 1 PM. The Rev. Alice Davis will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
