ELIE SHAHAN Elie Shahan, 83, of Rt. #2, Philippi, formerly of Rt. #1, Montrose, died Thursday, November 10, at his home following an extended illness. He was born May 29, 1928, at Belington, a son of the late Homer and Eliza Etta (Cross) Shahan. On June 29, 1950, he married the former Wanda Marie Cross, who preceded him in death on March 10, 2002. Survivors include two daughters, Anna M. Scott, with whom he made his home, Kimberly L. Carpenter and husband, John, Montrose; one son, Timothy Lee Shahan and wife, Carrie, Columbiana, Oh.; six brothers, Perry Shahan and Sherwood Shahan, both of Philippi, George Shahan and Charles Shahan, both of Montrose, Boyd Shahan and Alfred Shanan, both of Belington; four sisters, Charlotte Ann Summerfield, Belington, Susan Boyce, Zebulon N.C., Judy Huffman, Morgantown and Gatha Isner, Elkins; ten grandchildren, Anita Rosier, Tracy Hoffman, Charlene Stemple, Jonathon Carpenter, Ariel S cott, Jeremy Carpenter, Jody Carpenter, Jared Carpenter, Sydney Shahan and Mary Shahan; six great grandchildren, Timmy Rosier, James “Eddy” Hoffman, Isaac Stemple, Carliegh Stemple, Landyn Carpenter and Braxton Carpenter. He was also preceded in death by a three sisters, Eleanor Jean Summerfield, Cleo May Shahan and Edith Louise Shahan; by two brothers, Lloyd Shahan and Vernon Shahan; by one grandson, Victor Scott Jr. and by one great grandson, David Rosier. Mr. Shahan was a former doser operator and retired from Grafton Coal Co. He was also a former employee of the Akron Brick and Block Co. He was a member of the Central Chapel United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 13, from the Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Avenue, Belington. The Rev. Larry Poling will officiate and interment will follow in the Central Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Saturday and from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Sunday. The Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
