Ella Gardner, 86, of Dunmore, passed away at her daughters home in Dunmore on Monday, Dec. 16, 2002.

Mrs. Gardner was born on Nov. 6, 1916, in Hamburg, Germany, a daughter of the late Adolf and Minna Schleu Miersen.

She attended the Baxter Presbyterian Church in Dunmore. She was a member of the Riverside California Moose Lodge. She was a mail carrier and a homemaker. She was drafted into the German Army, where she was a telephone operator during World War II.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Gardner.

Surviving are one daughter, Elke N. Taylor and husband, Jerry, of Dunmore; two grandchildren, Jeffery Taylor and wife, Ronda, of Dunmore, and Randy Taylor and wife, Tammy, of Mentor, Ohio; and three great-grandchildren, Courtney Taylor and Kendra Taylor, both of Dunmore, and Zachary Taylor of Mentor, Ohio;

Friends will be received at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in Arbovale Cemetery. Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale is in charge of the arrangements.
