Emily Louise Simons 1908-2002

Emily Louise Simons, 93, of Route 4, Elkins, the Midland Community, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at her home.

Mrs. Simons was born Sept. 6, 1908, in Mill Creek, a daughter of the late William Oscar and Birdie Propst Simons.

On Dec. 24, 1930, in Beverly, she married the Rev. James Ray Simons, who preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1968.

Surviving are two sons, William Ray Simons and James Robert Simons, both of Montrose; a daughter, Wilma Lea Zirkle, Elkins; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jean Simons; and a sister, Eleen Virginia Simons.

Mrs. Simons was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Elkins.

Funeral Arrangements: Friends may call at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday, she will be moved to Elkins Church of the Nazarene where friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Pastor Terry Burgess, the Rev. Allen Woolums and the Rev. Frank Long will officiate. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
