Emma Gail Day 1942-2021 Obituary
Emma Gail Coffman Day, age 78 years, a resident of Elkins, WV, departed this life Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the United Hospital Center at Clarksburg, WV.
She was born Sunday, August 23, 1942 at Gilman, WV, a daughter of the late McDow and Ida Opal Pingley Coffman. On November 13, 1962 at Elkins, WV, she was married to Leonard Mycles “Mike” Day, who preceded her in death February 5, 2021.
Surviving are one daughter, Anita Beth Freeman and husband James Michael of Bridgeport, WV; three brothers, Bryan Dow Coffman of Montrose, David Thomas Coffman and wife Carrie of KY and Paul Issac Coffman of Horseshoe Run, Preston Co.; four sisters, Phyllis Jean Day of Montrose, Sharon Elizabeth Dove of Oakland, Md, Susan Marie Godwin and husband Gary of Gilman and Mary Fay Stemple and husband Adrain of Aurora; two grandchildren, Katelyn Hope Freeman and Michaela Lynn Freeman, both of Bridgeport.
Preceding her in death is two sisters, Patricia Ann Wilson and Agnes Carol Kent; and one grandson, Anthony James Freeman.
She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1962. She worked as a CNA for Nella Nursing Home and Davis Medical Center, where she retired in 2008. She attended the Shiloh Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading mystery books and later enjoyed listening to audio books. Her husband tended the gardening, while she stayed busy canning. She loved her family and especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 10 AM to 12 Noon. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 12 Noon. The Rev. Terry Cannon will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
