Emma Simmons 1911-2002

Emma Simmons, 91, a patient in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 15, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 20, 1911, at Beverly, a daughter of the late Lee and Grace Kyle Chenoweth.

She was married to Olin Glen Simmons, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, William R. “Jeff” Simmons of Elkins; one daughter, Nancy G. Taylor of Mill Creek; one stepson, Jacob E. Simmons, Beverly; two stepdaughters, Dolly Slack of South Bend, Ind., and Myrtle Jenkins of Beverly; one sister, Catherine Collett of Elkins; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 27 stepgrandchildren.

Also preceding her in death was one son, Tommy Simmons; three stepsons, four stepdaughters, four brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Beverly Cemetery. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Emma Simmons.
