Emory Cogar, 78, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, with his loving family by his side.

He was born Dec. 6, 1929, at Mill Creek, the son of the late Ashbury and Vida (Collins) Cogar.

He married Verna McCauley, his wife of 57 years, on Oct. 18, 1951. The special loves of his life were his wife, Verna, family and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, seven children, Lorraine Perrine and husband, Richard, of Port Norris, N.J., Elaine Cogar of Barnegat, N.J., James Cogar of Clayton, N.C., Emory Cogar Jr. and wife, Donna, of Clayton, N.C., Theresa Camden and husband, Gary, of Longs, S.C., Steven Cogar and wife, Christie, of Clayton, N.C., and Allen Cogar and wife, Kim, of Fairleeshills, Pa.; 30 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Cecil Cogar and wife, Linda; and sister, Marie Larry.

He was preceded by his parents, a daughter, Debbie Cogar in 1999; and several brothers and sisters.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, in Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton, N.C.

Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to noon on Sunday in the chapel of Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary, N.C.
