Ernest Junior “Sonny” Carr, 69, a resident of the Bretz Community near Parsons, passed from this life Monday afternoon, September 1, 2014 at the Davis Medical Center in Elkins. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected. Sonny was born Thursday, December 14, 1944 near Parsons, a son of the late Harley Ernest Carr and Texie Agnes Long Carr. On June 26, 1965 in Parsons, he married the former Donna Ruth Goss, who survives. Also left to cherish Sonny’s memory are three daughters, Jeana Holbert and husband, Warren of Virginia Beach, VA, Julie Bright and husband, Eldred Kipp of Parsons and Holly Ferguson and husband, Timothy of Belington, one brother, Harold W. Carr and wife, Carol of Dale City, VA, five sisters, Betty Mullenex of Montrose, Phyllis Simmons of Parsons, Ruby Wingfield of Valley Bend, Carol Sue Helmick of Kerens, and Lois Wratchford and husband, Tom of Parsons, ten grandchildren, Zachary Carr, Nicholas Carr, Ryan Rossi, Jennifer Rossi, Theodore “Koda” Leshen, Daniel Tyler Moore, Brandon Bright, Danielle Elizabeth “Paige” Moore, Caitlyn Holbert, and Jeremy Mesa, and several nieces and nephews. Sonny attended the schools of Tucker County. He graduated at the top of his class at the Norfolk Technical Center on his way to becoming a stone mason. He had also worked for Consolidated Coal at Laurel Run. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and his dogs, Cody and Carly. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Summerfield Funeral Home in Parsons on Thursday from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 2PM. Rev. Allen Crosten will officiate and interment will follow in the Parsons City Cemetery.
