Eugene Alfred Hill, 77, of Route 2, Belington, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, in Palms of Pasadena Hospital, S. Pasadena, Fla., following a brief illness.

He was born Feb. 28, 1925, at Belington, a son of the late Bernard and Virgie Triplett Hill.

Twice married, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn V. Booth Hill on Dec. 26, 1980. His wife of 18 years, Mollie Estelle Wheatley Poling Hill survives at Route 2, Belington.

Also surviving are one son, Keith Allen Hill, Akron; two daughters, Rachel Anderson and husband, John, Randolph, Ohio, and Melodie Smith and husband, Blaine, Akron; four brothers, William Hill and wife, Betty, Akron, Herman Hill and wife, Jean, Baltimore, Md., Howard Hill and wife, Imogene, Salem, S.C., and Walter Hill, Belington; two sisters, Eloise Board and husband, Lawrence, and Patricia Carpenter and husband, Calvin, all of Belington; two grandsons, Jesse and Jacob Anderson, Randolph, Ohio.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Gross.

Mr. Hill was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., with 38 years service and was a former employee of the Sun Rubber Co.

He was a member of Faith Way Baptist Church and was a former member Grace Baptist Church in Akron. He was a member of Adoniram – Joppa Lodge No. 517 F & AM and the Hilltop CEO Club.

Friends may call at Schoonover-stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Downing Gregory officiating.

Interment will follow in Belington Fraternal Cemetery.
